On March 8 each year, International Women’s Day is recognised around the world. It’s a moment to acknowledge the achievements of women across industries, communities, and workplaces. A chance to reflect on how we continue to create environments where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and grow. The theme for 2026 is Give to Gain.
At NPSG the day is about recognising the women who help shape our organisation. Women play important roles in operations, project delivery, administration, and leadership. Their skills, experience, and perspectives are part of what makes the business stronger.
“Across NPSG Australia we have women contributing in every part of the business. Some are working on warehouse sites in project teams, others are leading from management roles, and some are supporting the business remotely from places as far away as Auckland and Manila. International Women’s Day is a good reminder that the strength of our organisation comes from the different experiences and perspectives people bring to the table.” Tracey Wester, Managing Director, NPSG Australia.
This year, NPSG is marking International Women’s Day with a number of simple initiatives designed to encourage participation and reflection across the organisation.
One of these is the IWD Pledge Wall, where employees can share a personal commitment about how they will support and encourage the women they work alongside. The pledges are everyday actions. Recognising someone’s contribution, creating space for different perspectives, or supporting a colleague’s development can make a real difference over time.
Staff have shared personal pledges about how they will support positive change.
The week leading up to IWD, women across the business had the option to join online calls (different meetings for different time zones), which provided an opportunity to connect, share experiences, and acknowledge the role women play within the organisation.
“What stood out to me during this initiative was the connection formed between women across the organisation. We had people joining from Europe, Canada, Australia, NZ and the United States, sharing experiences and supporting each other. That sense of connection is important. It reminds us that while we work in different regions, we are part of the same global community. Supporting the Malala Fund was also a meaningful way for us to extend that support beyond our own organisation.” Gabriela Mills, Global Director – Health, Safety, Environmental and Risk Management.
International Women’s Day is also an opportunity to look beyond the workplace. To recognise this, NPSG will be making a charitable donation to the Malala Fund, supporting initiatives that help girls around the world access education and leadership opportunities.
While one day on the calendar cannot capture the full contribution of women across the business, it does provide a useful moment to pause and recognise the value of the people around us.
At NPSG progress is built day by day through the work people do together. International Women’s Day is simply a reminder to acknowledge that contribution and to keep building a workplace where women have the opportunity to thrive.
